National Arbiter Ernie Baltazar scores 3 wins 1 draw and 1 loss to finished 4th in the D'Grand Master Chess Club Open Blitz Tournement, side event of the D'GMCC Students Chess Championship held November 23,2013 at the Empire Centre,Rotonda,Pasay City. Baltazar founder of the Philippine Blitz Chess Championship loss to eventual champion Lennon Hart Salgados of Far Eastern University in the second round but finished with three straight victory to finished 4th overall.

"Maybe its more of an Insurance or maybe its a Voyage " he was told. Insurance is when two players just split their prizes no matter who won the game while Voyage is the English term for "biyahe"for deliberately losing the game.

When asked who will be his likely rival in the world championship match between Jan Timman of the Netherlands or Nigel Short of England, Kasparov said: "It will be Short and the match will be short"

Barangay Longos won the 2013 Malabon Inter-Barangay Chess Team Tournament

Barangay Longos won the 2013 Malabon Inter-Barangay Chess Team Tournament that takes place at the Plaza Hulong Duhat Covered Court in Malabon City, March 31,2013.  Barangay Longos and host Hulong Duhat both finished with 12.5 match points. Their match ended in a 2: 2 draw with Hulong Duhat's King Jeremias and Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar winning on Board 1 and 2 against  Bryan Barcelon and Pio Kit Ibanez. Longos Board 3 and 4  Fred Sadongdong and Michael  Lacao returns the favor by winning against Giovanni Dy and Mandy Miranda. Team Tinejeros composed of Daryl Samantila, Aaron Kimuel Lorenzo,Philip Octaviano and Fernando Custodio secured 3rd place while Barangay Tonsuya placed fourth.
Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar of Hulong Duhat post the tournaments best performance with a perfect 7 out of seven scores. Baltazar won against Pio Kit Ibanez of Longos , Aaron Kimuel Lorenzo of Tinejeros , Rupert Dela Cruz of Tanong, Rene Yap of Barangay Baritan, Fernando Santiago of Barangay Bayan-Bayanan,Josse Baldera of San Agustin and Glenn Caballero of Tonsuya.    philippineblitzchessassociation

The Philippine Blitz Chess Association gives the sincerest condolences to the families, relatives and friends of our brothers and sisters who have suffered from the recent Typhoon Yolanda . Many people`s lives have been ruined beyond any possible compensation. Many more have been made homeless, left to endure life without shelter or comfort.
We offer our prayers for the safety and health of the survivors.

Takot ang umiral sa mga manlalaro at tournament officials ng biglaang pumasok sa tournament venue ang tatlong tigasing private chess coach at nais ipatigil ang laro dahil daw wala ang coach ng mga nangungunang manlalaro ng Colegio de San Juan de Letran. Unang pumasok ang senior coach ng University of the East na si Henry Mariano kasunod ang coach ng National University na si Jojo Aquino coach kasabay ang coach nag Adamson University na si Christopher Rodriguez. Dapat daw ipairal ang No coach no play ayon pa sa tatlo.Nagbigay pa ng defaulting time na 30 minutes si coach Jojo Aquino para dumating ang coach ng Colegio de San Juan de Letran na si Roland Perez. Ang No coach No play ay pinaiiral sa lahat ng mga gurong pambubliko sa Manila -Division of City School para mapangalagaan ang mga manlalaro ng mga pampublikong paaralan .Kinompronta naman ng Adamson University coach Christopher Rodriguez na ipahinto  na ang laro . Dahil sa ingay na ginawa at upang mapanatili ang katahimikan ay sinabihan na lang sila ng Chief Arbiter na hindi dito ang tamang lugar para pag usapan , gumawa sila ng protest letter at ibigay sa dapat pagbigyan at hindi maaaring ihinto ang laro .venue. NAKATITIG SA KANILA ANG MGA MAISTORBONG MANLALARO AT HINIHINTAY KUNG AALIS BA SILA O HINDI. BUTI NAMAN AT UMALIS DIN KAYAT NATULOY ANG LARO. Ngayon lang nangyari sa halos talumpung taon ng paligsahan na may ganitong kaso na no coach no play na nireklamo ang chess coach sa pribadong paaralan ang kapwa nila coach.
